Quality Control Technician

The role of the Quality Control Technician to inspect and test incoming goods including apple, frozen fruit and non-fruit ingredients.

To ensure that certificates of conformance/analysis are available for each delivery of the above and ensure conformance against specification. To inspect and test finished products across all areas of the business, ensuring conformance to specification and issuing certificates of analysis and release notes.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Sampling & testing raw materials to specification.
Chasing suppliers for required documentation (COC or COA).
Collecting samples & testing finished product.


Liaise with operators on sample or test result issues.
Collecting samples and testing apple (new deliveries & daily inspections).
Select apple for production plan out of hours or as necessary.
Monitor product temperatures.
Liaise with dispatch on product release.
Cross-check production labels prior to use.
Complete swabbing of production lines.
Issue Certificates of Analysis/Conformance to customers.
Sending samples to external laboratory.
Carry out on-line inspections at product changeover.
Carry out in-house calibration checks on lab equipment.
Provide support to production on QC/technical issues as necessary.
Maintain lab equipment in good working order.
Cleaning of laboratory on a daily basis.
Complete all filing to the required standard
To perform this role successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and ideally:

Hold a current Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Have relevant experience (preferably in the food industry)
Computer Literate especially Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
Be able to work a rotating shift pattern of 6.00am – 2.00pm and 2.00pm - 10.00pm on a weekly turn around (Monday to Friday).
