Looking for a Print Production Manager £25-30k + pension and free parking.
Must be fully conversant in the print production process.
The role of the Production Manager is an extremely busy and varied role and you will need to be able to work effectively under pressure (in fact thrive on it!). You will be responsible for ensuring that all areas within your remit are running smoothly and efficiently. Provide feedback on a regular basis as to how production is running and any areas of concern, any changes in procedure etc. Excellent man-management skills are an absolute necessity as well as the ability / confidence to initiate changes and meet challenges head on.
Areas of responsibility:
Make accurate and definitive deadlines that can be passed to customers, both internal and external, through direct liaison with Customer Services
In conjunction with Managing Director negotiate competitive rates with suppliers and when required source new suppliers
Use preferred suppliers when ordering materials to produce work i.e., paper, binders, wallets etc, ensuring all relevant paperwork is complete and accurate
Produce estimates and book in work onto the system, completing all the relevant paperwork
Holding production meetings once a day for all relevant personnel to attend
Keep production board up-to-date
Ensure jobs have been signed off before proceeding to print
Ensuring that a copy of all PO’s are placed downstairs at the end of the day for checking against deliveries in the morning
Checking of Job Bags, after dispatch check that all relevant costings are entered i.e. paper, outwork etc.
Responsible for all production issues in both the Studio and Factory
Ensure that procedures are used and reviewed at regular intervals
Advising on benefits of investments to aid MD’s decision making process
To help and advise colleagues when appropriate
Meet with key production personnel on a weekly basis to discuss production issues i.e. personnel, stock levels, training, attrition, staffing levels etc.
When required arrange casual staff to work and /or overtime with staff on shop floor
Ensure all shop floor staff know the order of tasks each one is to undertake each day and monitor results
Make sure work is produced on time and to our usual standards
Liaise with dispatch to ensure all relevant jobs are dispatched when required
Checking of all work for quality of reproduction, quantity and presentation including Digimasters, litho presses, binding and packaging
Ensure maintenance on machinery is carried out in a planned/scheduled manner
Organise engineers for machines when required
