My client is a leading automotive company who require a Principal Design Engineer to develop concepts and detailed drawings for new and current generations of common rail pumps or components. He or she will be responsible for overall design content for the pump and or its components and will direct a drafting/design detailer for pump components and other relevant design items. The person will also be responsible for FEA analysis and other modelling either directly or through the utilization of other department or organization resources.
Lead the design of a new generation fuel pump through vision of customer/company requirements and the use of innovative concepts that provide competitive advantage in performance, cost and quality.
Apply FEA and other numerical analysis tools for the design and optimisation of the product.
Do competitive analysis and bench marking of competitors offerings.
Do analysis of other leverage product areas for new ideas to advance the art in pump design(New stretch ideas)
Do patent analysis of competitors and other companies for new idea generation.
Apply ICIM methods using DOE s, 6 Sigma, Green Y and other statistical tools to achieve design robustness. (Training will be provided to fill current gaps in experience level)
Drive design changes that assure the program meets cost, DFM, performance and timing goals.
Drive appropriate balancing of product performance and cost requirements
Participate in Program Project reviews and design reviews.
Develop and present technical presentations to customers and others on new or current pump programs.
Engineering degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent in physics etc. Required
Must have developed and supported a product that was taken successfully into volume production. Required
Must be innovative and visionary in developing design options. Required
Must understand and apply physics to the design.
Strong experience in design and or development engineering. Required
Experience in Gas or Diesel fuel system components Preferred
Solid Works experience including FEA analysis. Preferred
Ability to develop and present technical presentations to customers and others.
Must be willing to travel for training, work with customers and for problem resolution on projects as necessary.
